When I moved to the swiftly Gentrifying Chicken-town of Petaluma (Egg Basket of The World). I learned to tone down both my fashion and my portraiture. Subtlety is always a good skill. I traded my purple woolen tights in for black skinny jeans. My expression of Femme is very playful but less confrontational. My eyeliner is very visible, but within the parameters of Gay Mab-dom (Mab=Male At Birth). I recently traded dangly earrings for a couple of chic pearls. My current performance of Femme plays well in San Francisco too. I move through SF's social networks much more fluidly. One difference is that I am now trying to achieve recognition as Femme, which is pretty self apparent. How could you not project Femme upon me? I feel like I have more or less what I wanted to but could not achieve with a Transwoman or Genderqueer Identity. By making sociality into a debate about sex and gender Trans creates its own resistance. Trans then proceeds to attack this resistance with liberal moral blackmail.
